US MARINES POSE WITH SS FLAG

Category: US imperialismBy: admin at 8:41 am

This Sept. 2010 photo posted recently on the Titiusville, Fla.- based arms manufacturer Knight’s Armament’s Internet blog, shows members of Charlie Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA in Sangin, Helmand province, Afghanistan. The Marine Corps confirmed Thursday Feb 8 2012 that one of its scout sniper teams in Afghanistan posed for a photograph in front of a flag with a logo resembling that of the notorious Nazi SS. 1. In fairness this will cause revulsion amongst a lot of people in the US military establishment, particularly given that the Malmedy massacre in December 1944 was carried out by a unit of the Waffen SS.

This was a big influence on the SS as a whole being declared a criminal orgainsation at the Nurenburg Tribunal.

On the other hand it also shows the scary prolivities of some of these heroes who are bavely protecting and liberating the poor Afghans from islamic fascists.

  2. DELETED

  3. #2 Yes the Waffen SS can be viewed from 2 sides- the Nazi side and the anti-Nazi. Not from both at the same time.

Your not very effective mask is slipping.

Wow! That’s perhaps the most absurd defence for using Nazi imagery I’ve ever heard. You sound like some of those nutters that troll on Youtube.

  5. #5 The Waffen SS tried to defend itself on the grounds that it was a kind of proto-type for NATO, a multi-national European wide army dedicated to fighting Communism. It had it’s defenders on that basis.

Otto Skorzeny the leader of the SS commando unit that rescued Mussolini was defended at his trial by David Sterling the founder of the SAS (who later was involved in discussions about a coup in the event of a left Labour government).

A slight problem with all this cozy brothers in arms camaraderie was that the SS as a whole (including the Waffen SS) were implicated fully in the Einsatzgruppen, as well as the Concentration and Extermination camps.

The 2nd (Waffen) SS Division Totenkopf was intertwined with the SS body that provided the Concentration camp guards.

All of the above information is widely known by people who take an interest in military matters (as I did as young teenage lad with few friends and many spots :) )

Martin is either naive or an out and out Nazi.

  6. Im in no way appologist for SS. Just wanted to say that they have reputation in military circles. For example after the war, some SS men served in French foreign legion and the legion adopted some of their training techniques.

But if I have to choose best of the best, I choose SAS, BOPE and of coures elite battalions of IDF.

  7. Is anyone seriously suggesting that this is some kind of homage to the SS?

  8. A bunch if right charlies. And these thugs are now back walking around the streets of the US.
And it’s no secret that Nazis in the US are joining the army to get all those useful skills, like killing someone with your bare hands.

  9. #6 That would be so unfair- I mean the evidence is utterly circumstantial.

It’s not as if they were posing in front of a flag with the SS symbol.

It doesn’t resemble the the logo, it IS the logo of the SS !

Anyway, the Waffen SS were overrated and their supposed effectiveness was as much a product of the Propaganda Ministry than anything done on the battlefield.

Lies! We all know that you looked like John Travolta from his Grease days! ;)

I agree with Jellytot @#10: the whole German war machine, at the time and since, has been made to look far more efficient than it ever was.

Despite planning for war since 1933/34, they didn’t manage to create an economy capable of supporting the war effort – hence all the plunder elsewhere to support a Germany that by 1938 was already bankrupt. Nor did they manage to fully mobilise all sectors of the population. And has anyone read about the German entry into Austria? The tanks got stuck on the road, arrived a day late on trains, and forced Hitler to delay his entrance into the country.

I can’t remember which historian it was offhand, but I’ve always liked the depiction of Hitler’s rise and fall as hybris and nemesis. The whole system was based on misplaced confidence that led to unmitigated failure. Hardly a model to follow.

And is anyone all that surprised about the picture? As distasteful as it is, I’m not really shocked…

  12. Two or three years ago, a couple of Czech Army officers in ISAF were sent home after being found wearing Waffen-SS insignia on the helmets. There seems to be a touch of the Hollywood Nazi about some ISAF servicemen in Afghanistan. But they may also be applying Nazi “anti-partisan” methods to Afghans, some indication of which may be found in the late Soviet film “Come and See”, set in Nazi-occupied Belarus in 1943.

  13. The PLO, Hamas and Hezbollah militias all employ the raised-arm fascist salute. But since their enemies are Israeli Jews, Socialist Unity gives them a pass and refrains from any criticism. But when a renegade US military unit transgresses, all hell breaks loose.

It seems that for many on the left, using Nazi salutes is OK when adopted by anti-Israel Arabs; it’s OK for Oxford University Conservatives to sing songs praising the killing of kikes; it’s OK for LSE jocks to smash Jewish students’ faces, and it’s OK for SOAS Arab students to assault Jewish students and bite their faces – no less than a British judge said so, after all.

Not even a whisper of protest at these abominations can be found on this website. The silence is deafening.

  14. “When a renegade US military unit transgresses, all hell breaks loose.” When soldiers of the only superpower pose for a photo with Nazi insignia, people will notice. Sorry about that. As to all hell breaking loose, would that it were in my power to unleash Gehenna, though I do try my best.
