Mcconnachie in new far right meeting

Lancaster Unity note another Mcconnachie appearance….I am pleased to say I alerted quite a few people to him last week but had a number of comments from people who denied that he was on the right.

Apparently he will be talking to the fractious far right Swinton Circle in February.

It reminds me of the situation in the last 1930s when pacifists got together with social creditors and national socialists in groups like the British Peoples Party, famous for including Kim Philby’s dad as a by-election candidate.

  1. McConnachie is undoubtedly on the far right, I’ve personally heard him call the holocaust a myth. This was during an election campaign where he stood as ‘Independent Green Voice’ and i stopped him to challenge him about his far right views. I see him and his one wee pal round Glasgow quite a bit and always give them a bit of abuse but the guy is quite clearly a bit of a nut and not dangerous in the same way as organised far-right groups, though I suppose there is a danger that ‘eco-fascist’ ideas like his could be taken on by sections of the green movement.

  2. Nick thanks for the information…I think he is the main bridge between the far right and the green movement in the UK, so needs watching…he has been very effective at networking with a range of progressives, I still get very stupid people defending him.

Happily not many people are crossing the bridge but this could change, so we have to keep alert

  3. One worrying thing is that he’s kept his deposit at least once when standing in a Scottish parliamentary election, I think he’s mopped up green votes in the constituency vote as the greens tend to only stand in the list vote.

Here’s some of his election material. Somehow i don’t think his weird thumbs up symbol is going to catch on.

  4. The British People’s Party is the name of the party which the terrorist, Gilleard, who was sentenced last week belongs. That have, accordingly to Wikipedia, been three British fascist parties with this name:

It should not be confused with the British People’s Alliance, which is a very different - and stranger - creature.

Yes, and that reminds me of another situation, still ongoing, and rather closer to home…

    Innit.
